While one of the highlights of the evening is the awarding of the coveted "Mr. Off-Hill" award, some other awards can also draw a heated contest. Probably one of the most anticipated awards is that of most obnoxious freshman. For this is when fellow commuters can retaliate by making the honoree parade around in huge placards and a dunce hat proclaiming his or her already well-known obnoxiousness.
Other past awards have included: most obnoxious senior, most bookworm, most likely to do anything for money, most likely to never finish college, crowbar award, most likely to get it and most likely not to get it. But, more than the awards, it is a time for us to get dressed up and go to a dinner where somebody else cooks and cleans up (as opposed to the cultural dinners held throughout the year at the House). It is a time to eat, dance, laugh, cry; a time to say good-bye to the seniors and a time to gear up for recruiting the next class of commuters.
The true highlight of the evening, though, has always been the showing of the Spectacular. The two-plus hour screening of footage of the year's events as well as creatively planned (and some not-so-planned) skits is what everyone looks forward too. It causes us to reflect on the past year and remember all the good times we had with our true friends, in between those pesky classes.
